Juwel fish tanks are popular, good quality tanks made by a German company with over 35 years of experience manufacturing aquariums. Juwel fish tanks are readily available to buy in the UK and replacement parts are also easily available, although all Juwel tanks come with a 2-year guarantee.
Juwel fish tanks come in several shapes and sizes and they have good built in filtration, heaters and lighting units. As the market leader in aquariums for many years Juwel became the benchmark that other aquarium manufactures had to live up to, although in recent years several brands have come to the fore in the market place with innovative, high quality new products.
Having said that, Juwel maintain their level of quality and reliability and have managed to retain their market share. To keep up with the times and such innovation they have recently introduced some new products.
In 2008 they launched a new range of Rekord aquariums and introduced a new filter into their existing range of aquariums. The new filters are called the Bioflow 3 and Bioflow 6, and are fitted as standard to Juwel aquariums made after July 2008.
The Bioflow 3 and Bioflow 6 comprise an extra box containing a sintered glass biological filter media, which is different from the older sponge-based filters. These new filters are deeper and wider than the older ones so it is easier to remove them without removing the pump first.
The range of Rekord aquariums includes three systems, the Rekord 600, Rekord 800 and Rekord 1000 models. All the new Rekord tanks have a redesigned hood with a lift up flap in the middle to allow easier access, and a new slot to take an automatic feeder.
All of the new Rekord aquariums also come with one of the new Bioflow filters. As for the lighting included in the tanks, the Rekord 600 comes with a single tube, while the Rekord 800 and 1000 have twin lighting.
The older Rekord model, the 120, remained on sale after the launch of the new 600 and 800 models in 2008, but was halted at the end of 2008. The Rekord 1000 launched in January 2009 and is now widely available from Juwel stockists.
In its attempt to keep up with the competition and stay ahead of the game, Juwel has also released its first aquarium aimed specifically at tropical marine fish keepers, the new Marine Lido aquarium.
Previously marine fish keepers have used Jewul tanks that have actually been designed for freshwater use but modified them using a hacksaw to fit additional equipment. The Lido is the first aquarium by Juwel designed specifically for marine use.
It includes a selection of additional equipment and accessories, such as a hydrometer, a bucket of Instant Ocean marine salt, Reef Evolution Biodegrader, Reef Evolution Reef Tonic 1 and 2, Julian Sprung’s Sea Veggies food and a Sea Veggies clip.
It has Marine White and Marine Blue lamps, which are better suited to saltwater aquariums, but the filter is a standard Juwel model. The rear flap on the canopy has been cut out to fit around an Aquarium Systems Skimm 400 protein skimmer attached to the rear of the tank, which is powered by an internal Maxi Jet PH powerhead water pump.
So whether you are looking for a marine or freshwater aquarium Juwel fish tanks no offer both while guaranteeing you quality and reliability at a very reasonable price.
